It's been almost two whole weeks since B-Day (Brace Day). I am happy to report that my mouth feels much better, and I am not ingesting as much Tylenol these days.
I can't say that I have noticed any change in teeth movement, but I have only only been wearing my braces two weeks. *Wishful thinking*
One of the biggest adjustments I've made so far happens to be the teeth cleaning process. I have all the handy tools one would need: Electronic water pick, handy-dandy super floss, brace sensitive tooth brush (and travel brush), special non-whiting tooth paste, and last but not least ACT mouth wash. I have managed to decrease my ACT (average cleaning time) from 25 minutes to just under 15. I have found that the flossing holds me back, so I think I will invest in a good floss threader today.
My speech as also taken a backseat to the braces. I am finding it very diificult to get the words out of my mouth as I think them. This could be a good thing, or a bad thing ...
SO, overall, the braces aren't that bad. No pain, no gain - right?
Until next time brace lovers, i'm signing off!

Ugly Betty 2.0 (minus the 70 pounds)
Ta-da (sans make-up)! Other than looking like the Terminator, and having to clean my teeth for 25 minutes twice a day I will say it is not that bad.
The best part of the experience is observing how other people react to my new Braces. Some people are very positive, some do a "double-take", and some just can't help but laugh.
The worst part of the experience has been getting through the work day. Instead of hiding behind my hand, I normally fess up, introduce my braces with a funny joke, and go on my way. I have been "dolling" myself up a little more in hopes that I counteract the Braces effect - not sure if this is working. ;)
Tonight I am going out with 10+ of our closest Church friends, this will be the first time most of them have seen me with Braces. I am nervous, but I know everyone will be super supportive.

The day before "B-DAY" (brace day)
A friend of mine asked me today if I am nervous about getting Braces. I am not as nervous as I should be, but I feel indifferent.
The finer things in life will definitely be affected by the decision to glue metal to my teeth:
1. A Night on the Town - I can see myself arguing with the waiter/waitress saying YES, it is me in that picture!!! (I am going out with my friend Vicki tomorrow night for dinner, I will keep you posted on the "May I see your ID please").
2. Work Environment - I work in a professional environment, and I interact with my Client every day. I am already at a disadvantage being 23 (who looks 18), I just felt a rush of anxiety! Isn't their medication for this type of thing? ;)
I will post pictures tonight.
